Founded in 1974 and based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Peyote Bird Designs is a family-run jewelry house rooted in craftsmanship, heritage, and enduring style.

The brand was established by Mark Alexander when he began trading in Santo Domingo heishi and Navajo silverwork during a college road trip through the American Southwest. In the early years, Mark and his wife Martha traveled coast to coast in their well-worn Volkswagen Bug, sharing handcrafted jewelry and building relationships one piece at a time. What began as a passion for traditional artistry gradually evolved into Peyote Bird’s own in-house collections—defined by forward thinking design, quality, integrity, and a deep respect for the craft.

Today, Peyote Bird is led by Mark and Martha’s daughter, Amanda Alexander, and remains proudly family owned. As the company has grown, so has its commitment to thoughtful stewardship. Peyote Bird now supports a global community of skilled artisans, designers, and employees, working collaboratively to create jewelry that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
