Harrison Jim

Gallup, NM

Harrison Jim is a renowned silversmith of Navajo and Irish descent, born in 1952 and raised in Gallup, New Mexico. He learned the art of silversmithing from his grandfather and grew up surrounded by traditional Navajo arts. His grandmother and aunt often wore beautiful handmade jewelry and wove rugs in the family home, giving Harrison an early and lasting connection to artistic expression and cultural tradition.

He later refined his craft through apprenticeships with acclaimed jewelers including John Hall, Tommy Jackson, and McKee Platero. Under their guidance, Harrison gained not only technical mastery, but also a deep respect for traditional Navajo methods, materials, and design principles.

Over the years, Harrison Jim has developed a distinctive style that bridges tradition and contemporary design. His work is known for its clean lines, fine stamp work, and strong geometric forms inspired by the landscapes and night skies of New Mexico. Drawing from traditional Navajo techniques such as ingot casting and tufa casting, he creates jewelry that feels both timeless and modern. His meticulous attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship have earned him a devoted following among collectors and admirers worldwide.
